Get Local
Participate
in local search opportunities on all of the major search
engines. Include; Google Local Business Center, Yahoo!
Local, Microsoft Live Local Business Center. Create
accounts (free), and create more detailed and search friendly
descriptions for your listing.
2.
Build for your audience – start with your wording
A
good web site starts with keyword research. Write using
key phrases that your audience is using – especially those
used in search.
3.
Site Maps, the new “Submit URL”
The
old days of submitting your URL to search engines are over.
Now you can provide a little more detail about your site by
creating an XML formatted spreadsheet and submitting through free
accounts on Google, Yahoo! and Microsoft Live! The
accounts offer you additional web site analytics from the vantage point
of the search engines themselves.

Viral marketing (utilize web 2.0) it’s easier than you think!
You
don’t have to be a FaceBook junky to succeed with
“social” media. There are simpler to use social media
sites out there that that can be very effective at promoting
your products or services. Social bookmarking tools such
as Delicious, Digg and StumbleUpon are a good start.
Twitter allows you to post short, searchable comments about…
well anything! Best of all, use of these accounts is free.
5.
Syndicate Your Content
Does
your company write articles, have a Blog, or have ideas you
would like to share with the world? Syndicate your content
with an RSS feed (free), online article syndication (some free,
some premium) and online press release distribution
(premium). Each of these methods is a great way to get
your name out there, generate more inbound links, and improve
search engine rankings.
